Kitten playingA bored cat is an unhappy cat. Just like humans, it is important that your cat is emotionally stimulated. The easiest way to do this, of course, is by showing your cat affection and entertaining them yourself, but we know this isn’t always possible. So, for those times that you’re at work or away, here are three affordable ways you can keep your cat entertained in your absence.

Make the Most of Material

One of the simplest ways to keep your cat entertained is by leaving various materials around the house. The varying textures, smells and sounds that paper, cardboard, velvet or wool make will be of great interest to your cat. They can tear up the material, play and have a great time; it's a messy toy, but an affordable and fun one!

Hidden Treats

Another way to bring a little excitement into your cat’s day is by hiding treats around your house or apartment. Hiding their favourite snacks under sofas, on bedside tables or behind cabinets will encourage your cat to hunt and use their senses. You can even get creative by hiding treats inside blankets or in old items of clothing and leaving them out for your cat to find.

TV!

We know this one seems a little crazy but trust us, it works. Many cat owners leave stimulating videos on their TV for their pets. Whilst you can buy DVDs featuring cat friendly videos of mice or birds, a cheaper alternative is to use YouTube. Find a video which catches your cat’s attention and stream it onto your TV or laptop, but make sure your device is secure so that no damages occur from over-excited cats while you’re out. Now you can tick your cat’s entertainment off the list, why not tick off food too? We sell a range of adult and kitten food which is all natural and full of the nutrients your cat needs. By using our food and these entertainment tips, we can help ensure your cat is both happy and healthy together.
